A priest I got to know as a faithful servant of God was returning from preaching in an isolated village one Sunday evening when he stopped his car to remove a log of wood from the road. Bandits stepped out from the bush and asked him to hand over the keys of his car. He promptly did so while his wife immediately got out of the car. They then shot this priest dead before driving away! When we went to console his widow, she had many questions in her heart. “But people tell me I must never question God,” she said. I told her the people were wrong. “All children have a right to ask any question from their father; and this God is your Father.”
Job questioned God, just as the psalmists were later to do (e.g.Psalms 10:1, Psalms 44:23,24); and he did not mince his words. See how forthright he was in Job 10:4-6,8-9! In all of this, Job was acknowledging his personal relationship with God and his surprise that the God he worshipped should be messing up his life in this manner!
